OK, Democrats. I'm officially double-dog daring you to
impeach President Bush. I triple-dog dare you.
Because you needed more incentive than the plain,
single-dare the Republicans gave you with his
wiretapping of Americans, I figure you are waiting for a
real threat to bring justice back into our country.
I can think of about a dozen charges for impeachment.
Why can't you?
President Clinton was impeached because he lied about
fooling around with a White House intern. You mean to
tell me that lying to Congress about illicit weapons to
start a war, torture of prisoners at military prisons,
denying legal representation of arrested suspects and
depleting the National Guard are not enough?
I've been bombarded with entreaties from the
Democratic Party and MoveOn.org to give my hard-earned
money to support their causes. I haven't given them one
dime since they lost the last election against Bush. Why
should I?
I've seen more courage in my 3-year-old nephew when
his baby brother takes away one of his toys than what I
see in the Democratic Party.
Democrats blame the loss of the last election on
Ralph Nader. Just give that one up, will you? Nader
didn't lose the election. Democrats did. They allowed
the first election to go to the Supreme Court. They
allowed the second election to go down the drain with
their sickening imitation of Republican patriotism. When
will they go back to what their party has always stood
for?
I used to be proud to be a Democrat. Democrats used
to fight for the average American by building social
programs to end poverty and illiteracy. Democrats used
to stand for equal pay for equal work. Democrats used to
fight for civil rights, defend civil liberties and wave
the Constitution at anyone who abused presidential
power. What happened to those men and women who were
Democrats down to their bones?
I'll tell you. They are slaves of fear. Today,
Democrats are just what Nader said they are: no
different from Republicans. Democrats are snuggling up
to big business and ignoring the voices of their
constituents. Democrats have allowed the Bush
administration to use fear to corrupt the Declaration of
Independence and slaughter the Bill of Rights. Democrats
have allowed the Bush posse to rearrange the checks and
balances into a government that resembles fascism.
The Constitution demands that anyone who sees the
infringement of civil liberties or destruction of
balanced government to speak up and take action. Our
founding fathers were criminals in the eyes of the
British. But they knew what was right and what kind of
country they wanted to live in, and they fought and died
for it.
When will America see such courage again?
